Hera score in the 2020 CDP questionnaire is up to A-

<p>On December 8, results of the CDP questionnaire were published, showing how the Hera Group has taken a further step forward, reaching level A-, instead of the B obtained in 2019. CDP is the body managing measurement and dissemination of data related to the environmental impact of industrial realities at a global level and represents the reference point of excellence for investors, companies, cities, states and regions. Filling in the CDP questionnaire requires measuring and reporting on all the performances and initiatives implemented by a company to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.</p> <p>Hera obtains the highest rating (i.e. A) for governance and for data related to emissions, even improving, in these areas, the score of last year. At the same time, the Group launched a project to implement the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD ) with the Financial Stability Board. In Italy only 17 companies rank A-.</p>

Hera is the best multiutility in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index

<p>Hera is the first Italian multi-utility to be included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), one of the most relevant international stock indices evaluating social responsibility, managed by S &amp; P Global. DJSI includes the world's largest companies, basing this selection on their sustainability performance.</p> <p>The Group achieved an overall score of 87/100 in the annual ranking announced on Friday 13 November 2020 and effective from 23 November 2020. This result makes Hera the number one multi-utility at a global level. Compared to the other companies in the index, Hera stands out mostly for its environmental and economic dimensions, together with governance.</p> <p>An achievement even more remarkable considering that Hera simultaneously entered the Global index (Dow Jones Sustainability World Index) and the European one (Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index), while positioning as "Industry Leader" above the approximately 3,500 largest companies in the world evaluated by the DJSI (of which on average only 10% manages to enter the index).</p>

Tracing waste, Hera recovers 92% of sorted waste

<p>The urban waste traceability system implemented by Hera makes it possible to annually publish Tracing Waste, a thematic sustainability report available since 2009, and to quantify the share of sorted waste collection actually recovered: in 2019 it was equal to 92%, an excellent result confirming the one of the previous year. This means that non-recovered sorted waste did not exceed 8%.</p>

Hera in the Alliance for the Circular Economy

<p>The Hera Group joins the Alliance for the Circular Economy. Established in 2017, the Alliance for Circular Economy currently includes 17 companies: A2A, Aquafil, Bvlgari, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, Cetena (Fincantieri Group), CIRFOOD, Costa Cruises, Enel, ERG, FaterSMART, Hera Group, Intesa Sanpaolo, NextChem (Maire Tecnimont Group), Novamont, Salvatore Ferragamo, TH-Resorts and Touring Club Italiano. Its mission is to relaunch a coordinated and shared commitment between industry and citizens in favor of a circular development model, which also represents an opportunity to relaunch the country's competitiveness. At the Alliance's Position Paper 2020, among the new proposals to fully exploit the potential for economic, social and environmental development linked to circularity, is also included the one of Hera Luce, the public lighting company of the Group, which has developed an innovative tool to measure circularity in the lighting systems, in order to support a more performing production processes and a greater energy efficiency.</p>

The quality of water managed by the Group

<p>In good waters, a sustainability report that describes how Hera manages the integrated water cycle and brings benefits to the environment, thanks to the constant regeneration and reuse of the primary resource, is now online. In good waters also shows the quality of water managed by the Group which, also thanks to almost 3,000 analyzes per day in the area served, is 99.9% compliant with the national set parameters. The results of the analyzes carried out by the Group and by the public control bodies highlight the complete safety and high quality of the drinking water supplied, There is also a reward for those consumers who drink tap water: by doing so, they do good both to the environment and to their “personal bank account”: in fact, the yearly savings for a family of three who prefers tap water over bottled water is of around 460 euro.</p>

The Hera Group aims to reduce emissions by 29% as at 2030

<p>Hera accelerates on the road of the energy transition and works to ensure that its suppliers and customers use energy in an increasingly smart, intelligent and sustainable way. The numbers of this commitment, as well as the targets to 2023 and 2030, are described in the new edition of Valore all'energia, the thematic sustainability report dedicated to energy efficiency. The Group has an ambitious goal to be reached in 2030: to reduce its overall emissions by 29% compared to 2019. How is this possible? By increasing the energy efficiency of its activities, leveraging the 297 projects that, starting from 2007, have favored the energy transition in the areas in which the Group operates and providing customers in the free market with 100% renewable energy and smart tools that promote an intelligent use of energy, as well as the control, analysis, management and saving in domestic consumption.</p>

The Hera report on people engagement is now online

<p>Team up. For the Hera Group this is a real philosophy, which every year leads to many concrete projects, through which our multiutility collaborates with citizens, institutions, companies and the third sector in favor of the areas in which it operates, to protect the environment and for the benefit of future generations. Because each of us can be a positive protagonist of their time.</p><p>At the heart of the third edition of the report "Building the future together" are the many shared initiatives to concretely take action together in favor of sustainability. Beside the overview of the initiatives carried out in 2019 and the results achieved, the report also tells how the Group - together with workers, suppliers, institutions and the local community - addressed the 2020 health emergency, showing once again how important it is to operate in a logic of profound integration with the local territory, guaranteeing the continuity of essential services and the safety of people and processes.</p>

<p>Hera's equity was included in the FTSE4Good Index Series, a series of ethical indexes created by FTSE Russell to gather the best companies that, globally, actively commit to sustainable development.</p><p>The FTSE4Good was created by the FTSE Russell in order to support investors focused on listed companies that meet globally recognized social responsibility standards and represents a key reference point to benchmark the different players and build up an ethical portfolio. The companies included in the FTSE4Good Index meet rigorous environmental, social and governance criteria and are therefore potentially better positioned to capitalize the benefits deriving from responsible business and therefore to create shared value.</p>

The Rifiutologo app "learns to speak", thanks to Alexa

<p>Hera's app il Rifiutologo, downloaded over 400 thousand times by those who want to be sure of appropriately sorting recycling waste, becomes even more user friendly and, thanks to Alexa, the artificial intelligence created by Amazon, literally "learns to speak". In fact, the Rifiutologo can be added to the Alexa app, which will translate into vocal messages the basic information on the collection service provided by the Hera Group in its municipality.</p><p>The functionalities activated in the first version, already operational, allow Alexa to answer all the questions on the door-to-door collection schedule of the week or produce vocal answers related to sorted waste disposal.</p><p>The interaction between Alexa and the Rifiutologo represents an advanced tool for the creation of shared value, promoting the respect for the environment, the improvement of separate waste collection and above all enhancing inclusion, as it allows an agile use of the Rifiutologo also among people with disabilities.</p>

Together with Hera for a new start over

<p>With reference to the COVID novel situation, Hera continued to regularly carry out most of the activities on its operational areas throughout the lock-down period and to promptly respond to emergency calls anytime during the recent quarantine. Furthermore, useful actions were put in place for a smart use of the Group's services from remote, to ensure maximum safety while guaranteeing the service continuity:</p><p>Most of the operations and communication actions, including self-reading of meter devices, can still be managed by telephone through our customer service (ph. 800.999.500), active from Monday to Friday from 8 to 22, on Saturday from 8 to 18. The call is free; ph. 800,999,700 for non-domestic users.</p><p>Furthermore, with MyHera app and Online Services, services and supplies can be managed quickly and easily at any time of the day.
