The tracking system

The project provides a response to two vital questions:

  • where does separated waste go?
  • how much is actually recycled?

Answering those questions takes the form of a report that illustrates where the separately collected waste goes and the quantities that are actually reused. The report:

  • provides a valuable Hera Group reporting tool, allowing us to go beyond the separated waste collection percentages defined by European circular economy goals;
  • traces and monitors the recycling and recovery process;
  • provides guarantees that separated waste is being recovered;
  • responds to any doubts as to the actual recycling of material;
  • makes the citizens' daily waste separation efforts a transparent process;
  • demonstrates the advantages of separate waste collection, promoting virtuous behaviour.

Consorzio Conai, Corepla and the 58 initial waste processing companies were also involved in the drawing up of the report.
