The new plastic economy: Hera at the forefront
Hera is the only Italian utility that participates in the Ellen MacArthur Foundation's New Plastics Economy Global Commitment, an international program for the reduction of pollution from plastic sources.
Hera has set targets for 2025 (compared to 2017) and reports the results every year.
INCREASE COMPARED TO 2017 | 2025 TARGET | 2020 |
---|---|---|
PLASTIC COLLECTED | +30% | +21% |
RECYCLED PLASTIC (SECOND RAW MATERIAL PRODUCED) | +70% | +16% |
The exhausted oil from your home? With Hera it becomes biodiesel
Thanks to over 800 dedicated containers distributed in the Emilia-Romagna area and to the commitment of citizens in the correct delivery, in 2020 alone we collected and recovered 1,110 tons of used oil, which by virtue of an agreement with ENI is transported to the bio-refinery in Porto Marghera (Ve) and is used as a component for the production of biodiesel.
And the circle is truly closed, because 35 vehicles used by Hera in road waste collection are powered by this sustainable fuel.
