FIB3R: the plant that recycles carbon fibre
and promotes the ecological transition
Located in the heart of the Motor Valley, near the Imola International Circuit, FIB3R is an innovative plant that recycles composite carbon materials, developed by the Hera Group.
The result of three years of scientific experimentation, in collaboration with the Industrial Chemistry Department at the University of Bologna and technology partner Curti, FIB3R operates with a focus on innovating the 3Rs: Recover, Reduce, Reuse Carbon Fibre, driving a virtuous recycling process that enhances the sustainability of production processes.
The project has obtained a contribution from the European Union under the NRRP (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) for the innovativeness of the technology it uses and the strategic importance of the materials involved.

A pioneering project, the first in Europe on an industrial scale
It is a pioneering project also in its design, inspired by the world of Formula 1: from the starting grid, which marks the beginning of the fibre recovery process, to the chequered floor, the final goal of the process.

The advantages of recycled carbon fibre
Carbon fibre composite materials are used in various high-tech sectors, such as automotive, aerospace, marine, furniture, and textiles. Thanks to the regeneration process that takes place at FIB3R, the fibre can be reused in an essentially infinite cycle, maintaining its lightness and high strength.
The curtain rises on FIB3R
Marco Panieri, Mayor of Imola, and Irene Priolo, Councillor for the Environment, Territorial Planning, Mobility, Transport, and Infrastructure of the Regional Government of Emilia-Romagna, were present at the inauguration. The event saw the participation of key figures from the industrial and academic sectors and ended with a speech by Orazio Iacono, CEO of the Hera Group.
