Hera's Group President, Tomaso Tommasi di Vignano, was named "2010 Utilities Manager of the Year" (environmental sector) on 17 February 2011 in Milan by "Management delle Utilities". The magazine, run by Prof. Andrea Gilardoni, Associate Professor of Economics and Business Management at Milan's Bocconi University, is the leading publication in Italy in the public utilities service industry.
The reason behind Mr Tommasi's nomination and award is "Hera's balanced and sustained development as one of Italy's leading companies in the environmental sector".
Mr Tommasi, who has been at the helm of Hera since 2002, oversaw the company's listing on the stock exchange and its subsequent consolidation through the integration of other local multi-utilities. Whilst enjoying this period of uninterrupted growth, Hera has established itself as the leading player in Italy in the environmental sector (waste collection and disposal) through its subsidiary Herambiente, treating more than 5 million tonnes of waste.
