Our purpose
Hera for the Planet, People and Prosperity: this, in essence, is our purpose, our scope, and in a broader sense, the raison d'être of our Group. Our corporate purpose encloses our values and goals, and expresses the "social" role we intend to play. Sustainability and creating shared value are the fundamental traits of our company and define its purpose.
The creation of shared value is now included in our Articles of Association
In April 2021, the Shareholders' Meeting approved the introduction of the "Purpose" in the Articles of Association of our company, one of the first in Italy to officially declare its corporate purpose. We have, in particular, added a paragraph to Article 3 that expresses our focus on the creation of shared value and the goals we aim to achieve in conducting our business, thus reaffirming the commitment to sustainability which has characterised the company since it was founded.
The new paragraph reads as follows: “The Company’s business model aims at creating long-term value for its shareholders through the creation of a shared value with its stakeholders. For this purpose, the Company organises and carries out its business activities also in order to promote social equity and contribute to achieving carbon neutrality, the regeneration of resources and the resilience of the services system managed for the benefit of customers, the ecosystem of its territory and future generations. The updated Articles of Association – in line with the new Corporate Governance Code of Borsa Italiana and best practices within the meaning of European laws – allows us to strongly reaffirm our commitment to the energy transition and the circular economy through innovation and digitisation, as well as, that of encouraging social fairness.
