Duccio Regoli

After earning a degree summa cum laude at the University of Pisa’s Faculty of Law in 1986, he was awarded one of the two “D. Menichella” scholarships from the Banca d’Italia, allowing him to attain a Master of Laws degree from University of Chicago. He later carried out professional activity in New York in the Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Whatron & Garrison legal studios, dealing with corporate law and financial intermediation.

After becoming associate professor at the University of Lecce, he is now full professor of commercial law at the Faculty of Business of the Sacro Cuore Catholic University, where he also teaches financial market commercial law. 

In his academic research, he has dealt with issues in national and international corporate law, bankruptcy law, EU law, movable, banking and civil values. His more significant publications include “Publi purchasing offers and communications to shareholders” and “Voting as a usable right in listed companies”. He has furthermore investigated governance and independent administrators in listed companies and has co-written, along with a restricted group of senior professors, three textbooks: Corporate Law. A Handbook; Bankruptcy Law. A Handbook;  Business Law. A Handbook. In 2007 he co-founded the periodical Rivista di Diritto Societario, and has since been one of its editors. He has also done academic research abroad, above all in the United States (Chicago and New York) and in Germany (at the Max-Planck-Institut für Ausländisches Öffentliches Recht und Völkerrecht, Heidelberg ).

As of 1996 he has worked professionally in the Mazzoni and Associates and Verusio and Cosmelli legal offices, for whom he is now responsible for corporate consulting and assisting clients, both Italian and foreign, with investment operations in Italy and issues involving corporate governance. He has acted as arbitrator in disputes involving national and international commercial law.

From 1 January 2004 to 31 December 2006 he was a member of Borsa Italiana Spa’s Ethics and Disciplinary Committee, with which he has continued collaborating as a member of the Committee of Experts and in revising the Professional Discipline Code, 2010, and participating in work groups dedicated to issues of corporate governance.

From the 2010-2011 academic year through to 2014-2015 he was Coordinator of the PhD in Domestic and International Commercial Law at the Sacro Cuore Catholic University in Milan.

He has been a member of boards of administration as an independent director and is a member of governance committees and supervisory bodies for listed companies.
