Monica Mondardini
Monica Mondardini was born in Montescudo (RN) on 26 September 1960.
Since May 2013, she has been the Managing Director of CIR Spa, a listed holding company that controls Sogefi Spa, where she serves as Chairwoman, and she is a Director of KOS Spa and Edenred S.A.
In 2009, she returned to Italy after a significant experience abroad in France and Spain, and was appointed Managing Director of Gruppo Editoriale L'Espresso which, following the merger with Itedi (publisher of La Stampa and Il Secolo XIX newspapers), has become GEDI Gruppo Editoriale, the top newspaper publisher in Italy and a pioneer and leader in online news. She was Managing Director of the company until April 2018.
In 2001, she was appointed Managing Director of Generali Spain, one of Spain’s leading insurance companies. She was based in Madrid, where she remained until the end of 2008.
In 1998, she jointed Generali Group, as General Manager of Europ Assistance, with headquarters in Paris. Europ Assistance is a services company, including insurance services, which operates in all leading countries worldwide.
In 1990 she joined Hachette, a French publishing group which belongs to the Lagardere group; she first managed the Spanish branch of Hachette Livre and then, in 1993, was appointed Director of the international branch, headquartered in Paris, and member of the Executive Committee of Hachette Livre. In this position she managed the group’s foreign businesses, especially in Spain and Latin America.
She began her career in 1985 at Gruppo Editoriale Fabbri, taking part in an international development programme, which in 1989 took her to Spain.
In 2016 she received the title of Knight of the Order of the Legion of Honour. In 2014 she was awarded by the French Embassy in Rome and by the French Chamber of Commerce in Italy as economic personality of the year for the relations held between the two countries. In 2006 she received the “Targa all’Italianità” from the Comites di Madrid, an award conferred on Italians residing in Spain who have brought prestige to their country.
She graduated with a degree in Statistical and Economic Sciences from Bologna University.
