The Group acquired Tiepolo Srl
The aim was to build a photovoltaic park in Bondeno (Ferrara) capable of meeting the energy needs of more that 5000 households. To achieve this goal, Hera Group acquired Tiepolo Srl, a company owned by Combigas and Greenfield Renewables. The plant is one of numerous renewable energy projects in the Group’s Business Plan, to support citizens, businesses and public administrations in the decarbonisation and electrification of energy consumption.

Over 1 million new energy customers from the Gradual protection service tender
Another significant step came in February, when the Group, through Hera Comm, won over 1 million new electricity customers in 37 Italian provinces in the national tender called by the Sole Purchaser for the Gradual protection service for domestic customers.

The Hera Group supported the communities affected by the floods
In May, two exceptional floods devastated Emilia-Romagna, particularly the provinces of Ravenna, Forlì-Cesena, Rimini, Bologna, Modena, and Reggio Emilia. There were 17 fatalities, 100 municipalities affected, 1,000 landslides, 23 rivers overflowing, 36,000 displaced people, and damages amounting to billions of euros. Many Hera employees and their families were affected but did not shy away from the massive rescue and restoration effort the Group launched. A task force of over a thousand operators, supported by more than 250 vehicles, was quickly created and worked nonstop, 24 hours a day, to restore essential services. The aim was to minimise disruption to the affected communities and to prevent a public health crisis, working closely with local authorities, Civil Protection, and regional and local control centres.

The “Good work deal” outlined the company model of the future
Also in line with the company’s purpose, one of the most important milestones of 2024 for Hera Group was the “Good work deal”, a document the company signed with trade unions and built on five pillars: health and safety at work; integrated supply chains and contracting; equity and inclusion; well-being, professional development and productivity; sustainability and shared value. The commitment contained in the deal - which outlined the company model for the future - was to chart a common path combining corporate growth, sustainable development and collective well-being. The central role people play at Hera was also recognised by the FTSE Diversity and Inclusion Index, the international FTSE Russell index, which ranked the Group among the world’s 100 companies most attentive to diversity and inclusion.

The founder and first Executive Chairman stepped down from leadership of the Hera Group
After founding and leading the Hera Group for more than twenty years, Executive Chairman Tomaso Tommasi di Vignano left at the natural end of his term on 27 April. On the same day, Cristian Fabbri was appointed Executive Chairman; he had previously been Hera’s Market Group Manager and CEO of the subsidiaries Hera Comm and EstEnergy.

Well of Science and The Great Engine of the World the commitment to schools
The HERA Group’s educational offerings are the concrete expression of the faith and hope that the multiutility company places in schools, teachers and families as the first to instil a civil and environmental conscience in young people, whose choices and actions will shape the future. From “A Well of Science”, which turns 10 years old in 2016, to “The Great Engine of the World”, the range of educational courses engages more than 65,000 students of every type and level each year, and is completely free of charge.

The acquisition begins of Aliplast (Treviso), leader in the recycling of plastics
Agreement signed between Herambiente and Aligroup S.r.l. for the takeover of Aliplast (40% in 2017, 40% by March 2018, 20% by June 2022), Italy’s leading firm in the collection, recycling and subsequent regeneration of waste plastic. The firm has an integrated process that transforms waste into products ready for re-use.

INRETE: launch of the new gas and electricity distribution company
INRETE Distribuzione Energia, a company established by Hera to manage natural gas and electricity distribution activities in line with the functional and accounting unbundling obligations laid down in the Authority for Electricity, Gas and Water (AEEGSI) regulation for businesses in the sector, begins operating on 1 July 2016.

Hera introduces Italy’s first sustainable revolving loan
After launching the first green bond in 2014, the Group has subscribed with four banks a loan of EUR 200 million, which directly links the financial terms of a loan to predetermined environmental sustainability goals.

The acquisition of 46.5% of SAT (Modena) is concluded and the merger is approved in July 2007
The purchase deed was signed for the acquisition of 46.5% of SAT Spa for a consideration of 34 million Euros, following the award of the deal in the first half of 2006. The remaining portion of 53.5% of the share capital is held by the municipalities of Sassuolo, Formigine, Maranello, Fiorano and Serramazzoni.

Lundquist CSR Online Awards Italy: Hera tops ranking in 2010, followed by Eni and Fiat
Lundquist CSR Online Awards “Italy” 2010 classification is published in collaboration with the daily newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore. The results show that Bologna-based utility Hera, entering the research for the first time, has jumped straight to the top place with 77 points out of 100, beating last year’s winner Eni into second (75.5). Fiat climbs up the classification to reach third place on 73.5 points.
