Longevity program: live better, at all ages
Life expectancy in Italy is growing and is among the highest in the world. This prompts us to reflect on the true meaning of “longevity” and on our role as a company.
At Hera we believe that living longer matters, but that it is vital to do so with quality, energy and wellbeing, at every age and in every stage of life. We have therefore launched a specific programme on this topic.
The purpose of the Longevity Programme is to foster widespread awareness on the theme of longevity as a way to improve people’s quality of life, preparing them for a longer future and promoting opportunities for development through initiatives that value all generations inside and outside of the company, thereby contributing the growth of the community in which we operate.
Longevity is an integral part of our commitment to building an inclusive, intergenerational and future-oriented workplace.

Programme areas and guiding questions
To make this vision a reality, we have identified 4 focus areas, each introduced by a key question

Physical and emotional health
What initiatives are available to help me feel well, at every stage of life, with regard to my physical and emotional health?

Financial sustainability
What initiatives are available to help me feel well, at every stage of life, with regard to my financial sustainability?

Professional and personal development

Personal and family needs
What initiatives are available to help me feel well, at every stage of life, with regard to specific personal and family needs?

Physical and emotional health
Through a comprehensive set of instruments and programmes, we support the physical and psychological wellbeing of all our people. For example:
- The Hextra corporate welfare programme offers numerous benefits and support opportunities on areas such as prevention, sport, psychological wellbeing, nutrition and parenting.
- The Diversity programme and the Diversity Hub deal with the issues of diversity, equity and inclusion.
- The REWIRE project, in collaboration with the Universities of Bologna and Pavia, supports colleagues approaching retirement as they move into a new, active yet peaceful stage of life.

Financial sustainability
Managing personal finances, planning for the future and supporting family expenses are central to living with peace of mind. We offer a wide range of tools to build awareness and improve financial management. Here are some examples:
- Total Reward Statement, to know the value of your remuneration package.
- Flexible welfare credits, to provide support for expenses for healthcare, utilities, mobility and education.
- Financial education with dedicated sessions and webinars to develop skills related to the management of personal and family finances.

Professional and personal development
We promote the professional and personal growth of our people at every stage of their lives through numerous initiatives. These include:
- The Development Process, divided into two stages — assessment and dialogue — involving more than 9,000 colleagues across worker, clerical, middle-management and executive roles.
- The MyAcademy portal, the online platform with personalised thematic courses.
- Dedicated programmes to cultivate skills and open up opportunities linked to the digital transition (Her@futura) and the ecological transition (EcoHera).

Personal and family needs
We support work-life balance, providing tools that actively help our people. For example, we do this through the Good Work Deal, allowing us to carry out concrete initiatives, such as:
- Remote work, with a number of days per month in which our employees can work from home. It can be extended in case they have special needs
- Parenting support through dedicated initiatives and agreements.
