Today Hera is the third national operator in the sale of gas and electricity in terms of number of customers. It is also third in terms of the distribution of gas and fifth in terms of distribution of electricity. With a gas network covering more than 19,211 Km, it serves the areas of Bologna, Ravenna, Forlì-Cesena, Ferrara, Modena, Rimini, Pesaro Urbino, Padova, Trieste and Gorizia.
Our undertaking to supply energy is not limited to the free market but it also includes the regulated market. Thanks to our sales companies, we offer tailor-made solutions for different types of customers, individuals and companies, focusing consistently on the sustainability and objectives of the UN's 2030 Agenda.
We do this by providing "green" offers and by using 100% renewable electricity for the activities of the main Group companies and for residential customers, thereby ensuring significant savings in resources and a significant reduction in the carbon footprint -13,8% over 2019, using SBTi methodology (excluding gas last resort markets).

Ferrara, the city of "green" heat
A treasure is hiding under the soil of Ferrara. Not a chest full of gold coins nor a vault containing hidden works of art. It is a gift that nature gave this city. About two thousand metres under the Casaglia hamlet, there is a geothermal deposit from which water is drawn at around 100 °C.
Hera and General Electric together for energy recovery
We have installed a turbo expander at the R&M stations of Ducati's factory in Bologna. The goal is to recover electricity from the decompression process of methane gas.
