The acquisition begins of Aliplast (Treviso), leader in the recycling of plastics
Agreement signed between Herambiente and Aligroup S.r.l. for the takeover of Aliplast (40% in 2017, 40% by March 2018, 20% by June 2022), Italy’s leading firm in the collection, recycling and subsequent regeneration of waste plastic. INRETE: launch of the new gas and electricity distribution company

Three works by Bolognese artist Paolo Manaresi loaned to a dedicated exhibition
In December, the multi-utility made a significant contribution to the exhibition “La passione del colore” [The passion for colour] dedicated to Paolo Manaresi’s work, which was held in the Sala Anziani of Palazzo d’Accursio in Bologna. Hera loaned three works from its collection that reflected its history: “L’officina del gas” [The gas workshop] “La tettoia” [The canopy] and “Il carrello” [The cart]. Known primarily for his work as an engraver, Manaresi devoted his later years to painting and developed an informal, non-figurative language characterised by a vibrant use of colour, mostly using pastels.

Biomethane, Sant’Agata Bolognese plays a fundamental role in the future of green energy
The first plant for the production of biomethane from organic waste created by a multiutility was inaugurated just outside Bologna. An investment of EUR 37 million to support the challenge of renewable energy on an industrial scale, with 7.5 million cubic meters of biomethane and 20 thousand tons of compost a year used as sustainable energy for many supply chains.

The environmental benefits of biomethane
The numbers in the video describe the virtuous cycle that Hera will carry out with the production of biomethane, a 100% sustainable and renewable fuel, through the new plant under construction in S. Agata Bolognese (BO). A project which, through an investment of around 30 million euros by Hera, will make it possible to avoid the use of over 6,000 tons of oil per year and to produce 20,000 tons of high-quality natural fertilizer annually and 7.5 million of cubic meters of biomethane. As regards the production of electricity through biomethane, projections for 2020 indicate an increase in Italy to 93 Megawatts, capable of powering 31,000 apartments for one year.

HergoAmbiente wins the Smau Innovation award
Hera’s commitment to new technologies is recognised at Smau Bologna 2016. Indeed, the HergoAmbiente project won the Smau R2B Innovation Award, which recognises the most cutting edge solutions that are making public services increasingly smart in order to improve quality of life for residents. HergoAmbiente is a “smart” and unique operating information system in the national and international landscape for the integrated management of all waste collection and street cleaning activities through completely digital processes that are constantly interacting.

Hera Group's carbon neutrality strategy
Climate change is the challenge of our century. Hera Group is aware of this and, consistent with its corporate purpose centred on “Planet, People and Prosperity” (added to the company’s articles of association in 2021), it has prepared a “Climate transition plan” to reach Net Zero – i.e. to completely eliminate greenhouse gas emissions - with the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C by the end of the century, as envisaged in the Paris Agreement.

Major financing from the European Investment Bank (EIB)
In the same month, the multiutility received financing of €460 million from the European Investment Bank (EIB) for more than 60 projects that complied with the European Taxonomy and the UN Global Agenda 2030 goals. These initiatives aimed to increase renewable energy production, promote energy efficiency and decarbonisation, as well as strengthening waste collection and treatment.
