- About Romagna Acque-Società delle Fonti
Romagna Acque-Società delle Fonti is a limited company that owns all drinking water sources for civil use in Romagna territory. The aqueduct system - made up of infrastructures and inter-district, inter-provincial and inter-regional monitoring systems - is used for water catchment, subsequent treatment (purification or other intermediate process) and delivery to the integrated water service provider (in some cases via transit in water holding tanks).
Water is mainly drawn from healthy, protected areas, partly UNESCO World Heritage sites such as the Foreste Casentinesi National Park, Monte Falterona and Campigna where the Ridracoli dam – the major water source – is located. In all three provinces of Romagna there are many other sources with various types of water, treated in different drinking water plants that feed the water network of the aqueduct of Romagna.
In 2020, the internal analysis facilities at Romagna Acque - Società delle Fonti S.p.A. ran 349,782 chemical-physical and microbiological analysis on water for human consumption.
