Innovation and sustainability driving waste treatment
In March, reflecting its constant commitment to innovation and sustainability, Hera started construction works in Modena to build one of Europe’s most advanced rigid plastics recycling plants, capable of producing up to 30,000 tonnes of high-quality recycled polymers each year. The Group invested about €50 million, €7.7 million of which was financed under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). In October, the multi-utility launched an industrial carbon capture project at the Ferrara waste-to-energy plant, in partnership with Saipem, to store CO₂ from the plant’s chimneys in depleted natural gas reservoirs, thereby reducing emissions and contributing to decarbonisation.
