Welfare and wellbeing at the Hera Group

Welfare and wellbeing at the Hera Group: the HEXTRA system

People wellbeing is a central element of the People Strategy of the Hera Group and is reflected in HEXTRA, our welfare ecosystem.

It is an integrated range of tools and services designed to support people through the different stages of life and promote their physical, mental, family and financial well-being. HEXTRA forms part of a broader longevity-oriented vision, in which welfare is not just a set of benefits, but a journey through which we value people, strengthen relationships and contribute to the sustainable growth of the organisation and the people who are part of it.

The Hera welfare ecosystem: the pillars of HEXTRA

Growth

We support building wellbeing over time by strengthening awareness, autonomy and the ability to plan.

This translates into:

  • flexible income support measures, which can be used for everyday needs, leisure time and improving quality of life
  • instruments to plan for the future, from supplementary pension provision to financial planning
  • initiatives for training and personal development

Sustainability

We promote a sustainable integration between life and work, supporting our people with the practical needs of everyday life.

In particular, we offer:

  • measures to support children’s education, home-to-work commuting, family management
  • services and initiatives for physical wellbeing such as access to gyms and sporting activities, personalised nutrition and training programmes

Relationships

We value personal and family life, supporting people through key life events.

Our actions in this area include:

  • initiatives dedicated to parenthood and caregivers, such as university scholarships and scholarships for study-abroad experiences, summer camps, babysitting and homework help, programmes and meetings dedicated to caregivers
  • services for mental wellbeing including psychological support, resources for emotional management and personal awareness

HEXTRA events

HEXTRA also promotes meetings, events and initiatives dedicated to the Group’s people and their families, with the aim of promoting wellbeing, personal growth and the sharing of experiences. Through in-depth sessions, training programmes and opportunities to engage, it helps strengthen relationships and foster a sense of community, recognising the importance of connections both within and beyond the workplace.

Smart working and flexibility at Hera

At Hera, flexibility is part of the way we work. Smart working, introduced as early as 2017, now involves thousands of people and has become an established way of working, managed through monthly planning that offers greater autonomy in organising work.

The model is based on a results-oriented approach and on four dimensions – culture, time, spaces and technologies – that guide the evolution of work. This is complemented by environments designed according to activity-based working principles, intended to support different operational needs.

In certain circumstances, employees can extend their smart working arrangements, for example during the first months of a child’s life or when temporary needs arise. Flexible working hours also help employees manage their day-to-day lives more effectively.

These arrangements are part of the commitments set out in the Good Work Deal, which establishes the ways in which Hera continues to develop organisational models that are more sustainable and seek to find a balance between work and personal life.
