---|---|---|---|
Dissemination of innovative technologies related to the development of smart cities, the creation of network infrastructures, the development of open data and the spread of digitalisation, including through increased investment and skills in R&D. |
Increased investment and incentives to foster entrepreneurship and business development, generating positive impacts for the territory. Development of initiatives to promote employment for the most disadvantaged groups and to foster integration and improve the quality of life of people in economic difficulty. | Creation of new job opportunities and professional growth for workers, through the training of new skills, the dissemination of youth-oriented training initiatives and the implementation of welfare systems. | Increasing the resilience and adaptation of systems and territory to ensure service continuity and resource availability by consolidating the infrastructure of the served areas with smart plants and technologies and sensitive networks. |
The Local area (and Business) driver groups together the actions undertaken by the Group to increase the adaptation of the territories served through an increasingly intelligent and resilient infrastructure, to guarantee the continuity and sustainability of essential supplies, but also to promote the continuous harmonisation of innovation processes, which are accompanied by adequate governance of their economic, environmental and social impacts especially on the digitalisation front.
The initiatives are implemented in four impact areas:
- Innovation and digitalisation;
- Economic development and social inclusion;
- Development of employment and new skills;
- Resilience and adaptation.
The Hera Group generates about 26% of the shared value EBITDA (279.4 million euro in 2024) through activities in these areas.
In particular, in the area of innovation and digitalisation (68 million euro), shared value EBITDA is pursued both through the sale of telecommunication services (through the company Acantho) and through the development of projects and the implementation of investments aimed at the digitalisation of operational processes, services and cities.
In the area of resilience and adaptation (169.9 million euro), shared value EBITDA is pursued through the implementation of water safety management plans, which are fundamental tools for ensuring the quality and safety of drinking water through risk assessment and management at all stages of the water supply chain.
In the area of economic development and social inclusion (41 million euro), a portion of shared value EBITDA is achieved through contracts and partnerships with social cooperatives resulting in the employment of disadvantaged people.
Through the study of the local, national, European and global scenario, the Hera Group has defined specific short- and medium-term objectives for each impact area of the Enabling Resilience and Innovation driver, which are verified and redefined annually.
