In Bologna, buses and taxis run on Hera biomethane
Since April 2019, four buses and about twenty taxis in Bologna run on the biomethane produced at the Hera Group plant in S. Agata Bolognese, thus contributing to the city’s sustainable development. This project, implemented in collaboration with Tper (local public transport service of Bologna) and the taxi service manager of Bologna CO.TA.BO, is accompanied by a new communication campaign of the multiutility company, which will also be displayed on the company’s vehicles running on this fuel.
The biomethane produced in S. Agata Bolognese is a 100% renewable fuel, generated by the treatment of garden waste, prunings and organic waste: the plant, in particular, produces 7.5 million cubic metres of biomethane a year and over 20,000 tonnes of quality compost, for a saving of 6,000 tonnes of oil equivalent (TOE).
