Dissemination of innovative technologies related to the development of smart cities, the creation of network infrastructures, the development of open data and the spread of digitalisation, including through increased investment and skills in R&D. |
Increased investment and incentives to foster entrepreneurship and business development, generating positive impacts for the territory. Development of initiatives to promote employment for the most disadvantaged groups and to foster integration and improve the quality of life of people in economic difficulty. | Creation of new job opportunities and professional growth for workers, through the training of new skills, the dissemination of youth-oriented training initiatives and the implementation of welfare systems. | Increasing the resilience and adaptation of systems and territory to ensure service continuity and resource availability by consolidating the infrastructure of the served areas with smart plants and technologies and sensitive networks. |
The Territory (and Business) driver encompasses the Group’s initiatives aimed at enhancing the adaptability of the regions it serves through increasingly smart and resilient infrastructure, ensuring the continuity and sustainability of essential services, while also promoting the ongoing alignment of innovation processes – particularly in digitalization – to ensure that their economic, environmental and social impacts.
These initiatives are implemented across four impact areas:
- Innovation and digitalisation
- Economic development and social inclusion
- Creating job and development of new skills
- Resilience and adaptation
Specifically, in the impact area of innovation and digitalisation (84.6 million euros), the shared value EBITDA is pursued both through the sale of telecommunications services (via the company Herabit) and through the development of projects and investments aimed at the digitalisation of operational processes, services offered and cities.
In the impact area of resilience and adaptation (171.3 million euros), shared value EBITDA is pursued through the implementation of water safety management plans, which are essential tools for ensuring the quality and safety of drinking water through risk assessment and management at all stages of the water supply chain.
In the impact area of economic development and social inclusion (41.1 million euros) a portion of shared value EBITDA is achieved through contracts and partnerships with social cooperatives, resulting in the employment of disadvantaged individuals.
By analyzing the local, national, European, and global landscape, the Hera Group has defined specific short- and medium-term objectives for each impact area of the “Enabling Resilience and Innovation” driver, which are reviewed and revised annually.
