THREE IMPACT AREAS
TRANSITION TOWARDS A CIRCULAR ECONOMY |
SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT OF WATER RESOURCES |
PROTECTION OF AIR, LAND, AND BIODIVERSITY |
---|---|---|
Adoption of a series of actions and objectives relating to the promotion of recycling, reuse and separate waste collection, the reduction of the production of municipal waste and packaging and the use of landfills, and the adoption of a series of practices that improve the efficiency of the use of material resources at cross-sectoral level, including the dissemination of optimisation methods and the improvement of product and process design. |
Implementation of activities that guarantee the highest quality standards of water resources in both urban and rural areas and the adoption of a series of water efficiency practices by defining clear and consistent strategic objectives in compliance with the regulatory obligations established at European level. | Implementation of strategies and guidelines at national and European level aimed at protecting biodiversity and the natural ecosystem, with particular attention to air quality and land use, through the prudent management of processes, plants and vehicles and the implementation of preventive actions. |
The Environment driver groups together the actions undertaken by the Group to regenerate resources, to spread the circular economy model and to protect biodiversity and the quality of air and land, involving all the businesses managed in the protection and regeneration of the planet's natural capital and creating partnerships aimed at increasing the circularity rate of the broader socio-economic system.
The initiatives are implemented in three impact areas:
- Transition towards a circular economy
- Sustainable management of water resources
- Protection of air, land and biodiversity.
The Hera Group generates about 44% of the shared value-EBITDA (470 million euro in 2024) through activities in these areas.
In particular, the Group's important role in value creation emerges with activities relating to sustainable management of water resources (288.9 million euro) and the transition towards a circular economy (147.6 million euro). In the area protection of air, land and biodiversity (33.7 million euro), the largest share comes from land reclamation activities.
Through the study of the local, national, European and global scenario, the Hera Group has defined for each driver impact area Regenerating resources and closing the circle of specific short- and medium-term objectives, which are verified and redefined annually.
