Benedetta Brighenti

Born on 06/04/1982

Since 2025, she has held roles as National Expert at the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, for the Mission “Adaptation to Climate Change” and the European Covenant of Mayors, and at the Ministry of University and Research, for the Mission “Climate Neutral and Smart Cities”.

Since 2024, she has been Vice-President and member of the Board of FEDARENE – European network of Local Energy Agencies – with responsibility for “Climate-neutral cities and regions”, and Ambassador for the European Climate Pact.

From 2023 to 2025, she served as Advisor to the Rectorate of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia for the project “strengthening relations with national and international institutions and companies operating in, or seeking to develop processes in, the fields of sustainability, energy and climate change”.

Since 2021, she has been Director General of RENAEL – the National Network of Local Energy Agencies – where she coordinates the network’s strategic positioning, institutional relations at national and international level, and the definition of strategic guidelines.

Since 2017, she has been President of AESS - Agency for Energy and Sustainable Development. In previous years, she held senior management roles in companies operating in the energy and waste management sectors.

She holds a degree in Building Engineering and Architecture from the University of Bologna and has completed advanced training programmes in project management, sustainability, ESG policies and sustainable finance.
