intro

The May 2023 floods caused extensive damage to public service infrastructure. In response to this emergency and to support long-term recovery, the Hera Group acted as Implementing Body under the intervention plans backed by the European Union, restoring waste management services and network infrastructure in the affected areas.
The use of EU public funds entails specific transparency obligations: those who receive and use these resources are required to provide appropriate publicity, ensuring that the funding received is clearly acknowledged.
For the works carried out, such as the rebuilding of underground networks and the management and disposal of flood waste, which by their nature do not make it possible to place plaques or signs in public areas, this section serves as the official channel for public communication.

Funded waste management service projects

The May 2023 emergency placed severe strain on local waste management services: large volumes of waste and materials had to be managed rapidly and under challenging conditions. Thanks also to support from the EUSF (European Union Solidarity Fund), it was possible to carry out these emergency works, restoring efficiency to environmental systems and quality of life to the affected communities.

Funding for water, gas and district heating networks

The floods compromised the integrity of underground networks at multiple points, causing service disruptions and making inspection, repair and pipeline replacement works necessary. The EUSF (European Union Solidarity Fund) contribution helped cover part of the costs incurred to ensure a return to full operational capacity as quickly as possible and to secure the infrastructure.
