Citizens’ behavioural data analysis system to improve the design of waste collection and environmental hygiene services, focusing on on-demand
In 2019, enhancement of big data provided by Hergoambiente system continued to obtain useful information to redesign and improve the environmental collection and hygiene services - which now effectively enter the world of Internet of Things - and quickly define and compare different logistic scenarios with their economic benefits.
Main innovations introduced in 2020 have been the implementation of pilot projects aimed at improving the quality of field data. In particular, application solutions and predictive mathematical models are being studied in order to verify possible anomalous situations and to propose to coordinators control and remediation interventions. Artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions aimed at recognising the quality of waste collected and the level of road cleaning have been tested as well.
The CassONetto Smarty design has also continued. It consists of an innovative electronic box that allows citizens to open the bestowal device through the "Il Rifiutologo" mobile app and NFC communication, without having to use the physical card.
Finally, the app "Il Rifiutologo" has been integrated on Amazon’s voice assistant Alexa, which is now able to answer the most common questions on the correct placement of waste and packaging in appropriate containers and on the timing of waste collection throughout the territory served. There are several development opportunities, and further releases are being planned and implemented in order to provide the right information at any time and in the simplest of ways so to make separate collection easier and easier.
