Massimo Vai

Born in Milan in 1970, Degree in Business Economics and Master's in Business Administration Bocconi SDA (Milan).

After a brief period spent as an auditor at PriceWaterhouse Coopers, in 2000 he joined A.T. Kearney as an Associate, where he oversaw, with increasing responsibilities, projects for national clients in various industrial sectors: utilities, automotive, consumer goods and organisation of major sporting events.

In 2005 he joined Toroc, the Organising Committee for the twentieth Winter Olympic Games in Turin, with the role of Olympic Village Venue Manager.

In 2006 he re-joined A.T. Kearney as a Senior Manager and led projects for major national and international clients, mainly in the consumer goods sector.

In January 2009 he moved to Ciccollella S.p.A., an Italian-Dutch company and industry leader in floriculture and renewable energies, where he held the role of Business Development and Strategic Planning Director.

He joined the Hera Group in April 2010 as Strategic Planning Manager in the Business Development and Strategic Planning Central Directorate.

From April 2012 he became the Strategic Planning and Regulatory Affairs Director in the Development and Market General Directorate, and was responsible for supporting Senior Management in defining the Group's multiyear business plan. He also oversaw the regulatory and legislative framework, influencing its evolution towards solutions favourable to Hera's development and guaranteeing communications and fulfilments to the industry authorities and government institutions.

In April 2016, following the integration of the activities and resources of Local Bodies Relations within his Department, he became Planning, Regulatory Affairs and Local Bodies Central Director. In June 2018, following a further focus on policy-making processes and regulatory compliance, also in the perspective of long-term evolution, the structure was renamed Strategy, Regulation and Local Bodies Central Directorate. He is now responsible for supporting Senior Management in developing the Group's multiyear business plan and in defining the strategic guidelines, establishing economic and investment targets. He also oversees the regulatory and legislative framework, influencing its evolution towards solutions favourable to Hera's development and guaranteeing communications and fulfilments to the industry authorities and government institutions.

He is also responsible for governing relations with Local Bodies, establishing mechanisms of interaction aimed both at improving the Group's ability to provide responses to emerging issues in areas of territorial development and promotion, and at sustaining the maintenance of a context favourable to developing the business initiatives.
