Code of Ethics

The Code of Ethics is one of the company's social responsibility tools. It is a tool for encouraging good conduct, a reference point and a guide for those who work for Hera and those involved in achieving the company's mission.
The Code of Ethics lays down the commitments and responsibilities to be met as part of all company activities undertaken by those who work for Hera.

Hera's Code of Ethics aims to provide guidance for Group management according to the ethical values and the operational principles set forth in the Charter of Values, in order to promote unique guidelines for conduct aimed at meeting the needs of stakeholders and at consolidation of a positive corporate reputation.

Hera is committed to respecting human rights throughout the Group. Human rights are inalienable rights owned by all people and they represent an essential part of a correct and responsible business. Hera considers human rights inside its Code of ethics, which sets the requirements for its own operations and its suppliers, in particular as regards the following themes: security of employees and suppliers; protection of the person and equal opportunities, avoiding all forms of discrimination; protection of physical and moral integrity and protection of dignity.

The process of updating Hera's Code of Ethics

Based on art. 86 (ex 82) of the Code of Ethics, the document is reviewed every three years and updated as applicable. The first review was performed in 2010, with a second update carried out in 2013 and a third in 2016, coordinated by the Ethics Committee.

    or by e-mail

Verbal reports can be made, by contacting the members of the Ethics and Sustainability Committee, requesting a meeting, by mail.

  • Based on Art. 89 "Code Validity", the Code of Ethics has a three-year validity, at the end of which it is to be checked and, if necessary, revised.

Following the first check in 2010, it was updated in 2013 and for the third time in 2016. The Code was updated the fourth time in 2019.

A group of Hera workers was involved in the 2019 revision activity. Their involvement in this activity is not recent. All of them took part in the seminar "Corporate Social Responsibility and the Code in day-to-day management", which has served to spread features, functions and potentials of the Code since 2013. From the time that these workers participated in that seminar, they have been an essential point of reference for the Committee. Their argumentative contribution and their critical sense have served to improve the content and form of the document. This update was coordinated by the Shared Value and Sustainability Department and by the Ethics and Sustainability Committee.

The new document was approved by the Hera S.p.A. Board of Directors on 18 December 2019.
