Mission and values

Mission
"Hera's goal is to be the best multiutility in Italy for its customers, workforce and shareholders. It aims to achieve this through further development of an original corporate model capable of innovation and of forging strong links with the areas in which it operates by respecting the local environment.

For Hera, being the best means inspiring the pride and trust of:

  • customers, who receive, thanks to Hera's responsiveness to their needs, quality services that satisfy their expectations;
  • the women and men who work at Hera, whose skills, engagement and passion are the foundation of the company's success;
  • shareholders, confident that the economic value of the company will continue to be generated, in full respect for the principles of social responsibility;
  • the areas in which Hera operates, where economic, social and  environmental health represent the promise of a sustainable future;
  • suppliers, key links in the value chain and partners for growth".

Defining our Mission and Values
In the autumn of 2005, the Mission and Values established in 2002 were reviewed and revised.
A work group was set up for this purpose, made up of the CSR Unit, the Personnel and Organisation management team, the director of Hera Bologna and the External Relations department. The group was entrusted with the task of formulating a proposal for a Mission and a Charter of Values for consideration by the Executive Committee. It was decided to involve the employees in the process by way of a number of focus groups and the circulation of a questionnaire composed of a quantitative section, where the Values and principles laid out in the proposal were rated from 1 to 10, and a qualitative section where participants could express their personal views.
Additionally, the mayors of Hera's 15 shareholder municipalities shared their opinions through interviews.
29% of the employees completed and submitted the questionnaire, expressing their approval of the draft with an average rating around 7.5.
The results were incorporated and approved by the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors in June 2006, paving the way for the final draft of the Mission, Charter of Values and working principles.
In line with the revision of the company Mission and Charter of Values, in September 2006 the Group began the process of revising its Code of Ethics, which was approved by the Hera S.p.A. Board of Directors on 12 September 2007. In November 2007 a training course began, aimed at introducing the entire corporate body to the company values and principles and rules of the code of Ethics. The classroom training will take place until autumn 2008 and will involve all Group employees.
