Hera top of the web: on the podium for the second time in a row for its online communication

Hera takes silver
 

The H&H Webranking survey analyses and ranks corporate online communication. Compiled every year and published in the economic supplement to the Corriere della Sera, it has ranked the Hera Group second, once again ahead of the historic giants of corporate communication. Only one point separates Hera from the first place in the top 100: the company in fact achieved a score of 86.75 against Eni’s 87.75.

“For Hera this award represents an extremely important confirmation,” explains Giuseppe Gagliano, Hera’s Group Director of External Relations, “that the company has made transparency one of the key elements of its strategy, highlighting the real commitment of the Group as a whole to engaging in an active dialogue with all its stakeholders.

A result which clearly distinguishes it from all other Italian utilities and confirms the company’s growing commitment to improving the quality and transparency of its communication, which is increasingly seen as a strategic lever. Hera is the only Italian utility to have achieved this result in Webranking history.

The Hera Group has been at the forefront of communication with shareholders for years, thanks to the publication of its interactive financial statements, in Italian and English, in advance of the general meeting. Since 2007, Hera has published its annual financial statements online on the same day they are approved by the Board of Directors, one month in advance of the general meeting of shareholders. Since 2009, it has also published a browsable half-year report and an interactive sustainability report.

Hera also received the Special Award for Transparency  for its effort to reach out to stakeholders and provide them with accessible information in real time. For the past three years Hera has presented its annual report in an interactive version in two languages within two hours after the completion of the board meeting where it was approved. In addition, the company has also for two years published an interactive half-yearly report within 30 minutes after the conclusion of the board meeting.  

Another great result for the Group, following its first place in the CSR Online Awards Italy 2010.

 

What is Webranking?

Conducted annually by Hallvarsson & Halvarsson in collaboration with the Corriere della Sera, the Webranking survey assesses the online communication quality of the 100 most highly capitalised Italian companies on the Milan Stock Exchange and is Europe’s most in-depth survey of its kind. Aspects analysed are corporate and financial functionality and information published on the English version of websites.
Every year, the survey is based on preliminary research that gathers the requirements and preferences expressed by over 571 professionals all over Europe (investors, analysts and financial journalists). A protocol containing the parameters for assessing websites is drawn up on this basis. This year, 127 criteria were defined, a third of which related to financial content.
