The Sustainability Report is the most important tool for ensuring a dialogue with all Hera stakeholders and the community of reference.
200 pages outlining the Values and Principles that guide the Group, the activities and results of stakeholder involvement, the performance levels achieved, and the improvement objectives regarding the three dimensions of sustainability: economic, social and environmental.
The Sustainability Report 2009 was drawn up on the basis of GRI (G3,1, level of application A+) and GBS guidelines and audited by an external company.
Hera publishes VedoHera, the four-monthly online Group newsletter dedicated to sustainability and the issues of quality, safety and the environment.
The Hera Group develops numerous projects and initiatives through which it carries out its social responsibility policies.
Here are some of the projects currently underway:
Fourth internal climate survey
The fourth internal climate survey will be conducted in August 2011, when a questionnaire will be distributed to all Hera Group employees in their pay slip envelopes. The goal is to reach a participation rate of at least 57% and a satisfaction index of 60. Beginning this year, the questionnaire may also be filled out online on the Corporate Intranet. As in previous years, the survey's results will be used to inspire additional future improvement initiatives.
The "Hera" of electric mobility in Emilia Romagna
After the December 2010 signing of a memorandum of understanding with Enel and the municipalities of Bologna, Reggio Emilia and Rimini, the Emilia-Romagna region signed an agreement with Hera S.p.A. in March 2011 which broadened the network of municipalities involved in the "I move electric" project. The municipalities of Imola and Modena are involved in the pilot projects set out in the "The 'Hera' of electric mobility in Emilia-Romagna" programme. These projects are based on the development of approximately 40 innovative infrastructures to be installed in public and private locations which will be used to charge electric vehicles that transport people and goods. Hera S.p.A. will install the stations.
Filonido: the fourth Hera Group intercompany crèche
The fourth crèche involving the Hera Group's participation will open in Bologna in September 2011. Filonido is the result of a process undertaken by the Emilia-Romagna region with the municipality of Bologna and various bodies/companies, including the Hera Group. This crèche, in addition to those in Cesena, Imola and Ravenna, shows Hera's continuing commitment towards improving its employees' work-life balance: 58 total places are available. Seven employees from the Bologna area have already signed up for the initiative, and their children will begin in September.
A year for safety
The "A year for safety in the Hera Group" project was introduced in May 2011. It expresses Hera's commitment to improving the health and safety of employees in the workplace. The initiative encompasses a coordinated set of 15 sub-projects, some of which will involve all of the areas of the Group. The most significant part will involve the employees of Hera S.p.A. and of some subsidiaries in separate pilot projects run by the local areas.
