Sustainability Report 2011
Maurizio Chiarini (Chief Executive Officer of Hera Group) presents Sustainability Report
A special group within Hera group deals with technological innovation and the pursuit of new knowledge to improve corporate services and returns.
Hera Group’s research and development department conducts both applied research, studying the implementation and productivity of fundamental discoveries in specific industrial and social sectors, and industrial research, which focuses on social, economic and cultural optimisation of applied research.
The research and development activities are intended to increase productivity in plants, reduce physical losses, minimize the risks in the management of services and limit environmental impact as far as possible: in short, to develop activities that result in a direct return on company business.
At the same time, Hera takes action to encourage and steer external research on themes of direct interest to the Group through technical and scientific collaborations with dedicated institutions (universities, research centres and public institutes), partnerships with private companies including other multi-utility companies, and grants.
