The potability treatment plant located in Pontelagoscuro is the heart of the Ferrara water system. The company system puts the integrated water cycle into practice, meaning management of all the phases that the water goes through during the industrial cycle: withdrawal, treatment for potability, distribution, collection in sewage and purification, before it is finally returned to the natural receiving waters (the rivers).

Ferrara territorial operating structure manages the plant currently supplies water to 250,000 inhabitants, residents in the municipalities of Alfonsine, Argenta, Bondeno, Cento, Ferrara, Masi Torello, Mirabello, Poggio Renatico, Portomaggiore, Sant’Agostino, Vigarano Mainarda, Voghiera. It produced about 23 million cubic metres of water in 2007, distributed through a network that winds through the territory for more than 2,500 km.
